Classes Come and learn the wonderful art of lampwork glass bead making
STUDIO IS LOCATED IN SYDNEY'S SOUTHWEST.
Lampwork glass bead making uses a centuries old process. Rods of colourful glass are melted using a special torch and the molten glass is wound around a steel rod, forming a basic bead. We’ll talk about safety, materials and tools. How to make a basic bead, decorating using different colours and how to use tools to achieve different techniques.
Beginners class (no previous experience is required). What's covered:

How to set up your own workspace
Use of basic tools
How to make beads
Reading material on safety, tools and how to set up your own space
Use of torch and all basic tools required for the class
Beyond Beginners class (You should have a basic knowledge of how to make a bead)
We can cover some different types of clear encasing, surface decoration, using silver glass, making twisties, dichroic application, murrini making and application. The class topics are up to you, tell me what you want to focus on and that's the direction we'll head in. Glass will be supplied.
What to bring:
If you have your own safety glasses, bring them along as well as any beadmaking tools you may have and wish to use.
Apron optional, or wear clothes that you don't care too much about. Please wear closed in shoes and tie back long hair. Don’t wear loose fitting clothing. We will be working with an open flame and safety is of the highest importance.
Your materials fee is included in the class cost. Tools and extra glass will be available to purchase.
If you know how to make beads but you don't have a torch set up at home, you can rent torch time in my studio. Paid by the hour, you won't be supervised but I'll be there if you need me. Includes use of gas and tools and also annealing of your beads.
